One Step Back, Two Steps Forward!

Hello everybody! I hope your 2024 is off to a terrific start; mine has certainly been interesting thus far! My new job in the customer service department at Kroger is now officially in full swing, meaning my financial woes are - more or less - completely over. More importantly, in relevance to today's post, you may remember that I mentioned going back to college; these plans have actually been semi-halted, until I know for sure that I'm ready to dive headlong into a dedicated return to school - and that I can afford to pay at least $700 per semester. And as it turns out, this decision was a wise and fortunate one, because I sure needed my savings today! For I had discovered yesterday, whence preparing to head out on a casual date, that the mudflap underneath the front of my car - the luxurious Blackbird - had completely fallen off!

Oh the humanity!

This was troublesome enough, to be sure, and meant I had to postpone the date until next week at the soonest. but the real trouble came about when I got my car all the way to Christian Brothers Automotive. Turns out the engine was leaking oil! I had no idea! But according to the mechanics, were it to continue leaking and flow onto the red-hot machinery operating the vehicle, well... use your imagination. They offered to repair the engine for upwards of $800+, which would've just barely etched out the furthest reaches of my savings, but instead I settled on bringing it to Express Oil Change - the same fine folks who helped replace that engine in the first place. And after a lengthy amount of waiting, sure enough, they were able to seal up the leak for a little over $300, a far cry from what CBA was asking for. So not only was I able to cover the entire cost, but I was also able to do so without throwing all of savings at it and still had enough in my main bank account for groceries! I even got to make a new friend at the Dollar Tree who loved my outfit and added me on Instagram! Isn't that just the coolest thing??

How's your 2024 starting off? For my part, I have so much to be thankful for! Let me know in the comments down below. Till next time,

~R.B.
